// Né en Islande, en 1985, Ari Allansson a étudié le cinéma à l’Université de Stockholm et vit aujourd’hui à Paris. En 2018, il réalise son premier documentaire A Dream in Farö sur la maison d’Ingmar Bergman sur l’île de Farö dans la mer Baltique. En 2019, il réalise le court de fiction Maternal Love avec le soutien du Icelandic Film Fund. Le film remporte le prix du meilleur court métrage islandais au festival Northern Wave, et est nominé au prix annuel de l’Académie du cinéma islandais de 2020. Ari travaille aussi sur des formes plus expérimentales, et réalise des vidéos et des installations qui sont projetées dans des festivals d’art et des galeries ou musées tels que le Centre Pompidou (« Abysse » dans le cadre du festival Hors-Pistes en 2017). Il est également créateur et programmateur de festivals tel que AIR D’ISLANDE (Festival de cinéma et de musique islandaise à Paris), le PØLAR Festival (festival centré sur les cultures scandinaves), et depuis 2023 le NEW NORDIC CINEMA VOICES pour l’Institut Finlandais de Paris. Il prépare aujourd’hui de nouveaux projets cinématographiques, toujours entre la France et l’Islande.

// Born in Iceland in 1985, Ari Allansson studied cinema at Stockholm University and now lives in Paris. In 2018, Ari Allansson directed his first documentary, A Dream in Farö, about Ingmar Bergman’s house on the island of Fårö in the Baltic Sea. In 2019, he made the short fiction film Maternal Love with the support of the Icelandic Film Centre. The film won Best Icelandic Short Film at the Northern Wave Film Festival and was nominated for the Icelandic Film Academy Awards in 2020. Ari also works in more experimental forms, creating videos and installations that have been shown in art festivals, galleries and museums such as the Centre Pompidou (“Abysse” as part of the Hors Pistes festival in 2017). He is also the creator and curator of festivals such as AIR D’ISLANDE (a festival of Icelandic cinema and music in Paris), the PØLAR Festival (focused on Scandinavian cultures), and, since 2023, NEW NORDIC CINEMA VOICES for the Finnish Institute in Paris. He is currently developing new film projects, still working between France and Iceland.
