// Alex, Paola, Oriana et Sally sont inséparables depuis leurs années Skyblog. Ensemble, elles forment une famille choisie. Mais, depuis que Paola privilégie sa nouvelle relation amoureuse, l’équilibre du groupe vacille et Alex se sent délaissée. Au fil des discussions et de leurs déambulations, elles questionnent ensemble les frontières poreuses de l’amitié et ce que signifie faire famille.
// Alex, Paola, Oriana, and Sally have been inseparable since their high school days. Together, they form a chosen family. But, since Paola has been prioritizing her new romantic relationship, the group’s balance has been shaken, and Alex feels abandoned. Through discussions and wanderings, they question the porous boundaries of friendship and what it means to be family.

// Julia Palmieri Mattison est une réalisatrice diplômée du master de Narration Spéculative de l’ERG (Bruxelles). La construction de sa pratique artistique passe par différents médiums : vidéo, installation, performance, écriture, et photographie, tous indissociables. Elle met en lumière l’intimité, malmenée par la collectivité et dévoyée par les réseaux sociaux, inséparable de notre santé mentale. Son travail s’affranchit du récit individuel en s’inscrivant dans des champs plus vastes : famille, société, époque, faisant appel à une mémoire commune. En 2020, elle réalise son premier court métrage: Play Me, I’m Yours qui voyagera de DOK Leipzig à Popoli en passant par Bruxelles. Avec Looking Mean Is Not Cool Anymore, elle sonde les relations amicales féminines et ses représentations dans les films pour adolescentes.
// Julia Palmieri Mattison is a film director with a master’s degree in Speculative Narrative from ERG (Brussels). Her artistic practice encompasses various mediums: video, installation, performance, writing, and photography, all of which are inextricably linked. She highlights intimacy, which is undermined by society and distorted by social media, yet is inseparable from our mental health. Her work goes beyond individual stories to cover broader topics like family, society, and the times we live in, drawing on shared memories. In 2020, she made her first short film, Play Me, I’m Yours, which travelled from DOK Leipzig to Popoli via Brussels. With Looking Mean Is Not Cool Anymore, Julia explores female friendships and their representation in films for teenage girls.
