// Chasuna, huit ans, vit dans les steppes de Mongolie. Son père a quitté la région pour trouver du travail dans la grande ville la plus proche.  Alors qu’elle lui rend visite pour son anniversaire, Chasuna découvre qu’il s’est marié avec une femme chinoise. La fillette va devoir accepter ce nouveau membre de la famille.

// 8 years old girl Chasuna travels from her home on grassland to visit her father who lives in the big city. However, during her father’s birthday party, she finds out he is married to a Chinese woman. Chasuna has to learn how to accept her as part of the family.

Yuan Yuan is a Chinese writer and director based in New York. She is currently a MFA student at New York University, where she is named as an Ang Lee Scholar and Spike Lee Film Production Fellow. After graduating from Shanghai Theatre Academy with a BA in directing, she began working in script development for Oscar-winning producer Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Lust, Caution). In 2017, Yuan entered grad school to follow her dream in storytelling.

Yuan’s short films have screened at many festivals worldwide, and won awards at DGA Student Film Award, Aspen ShortsFest, Palm Springs, Rhode Island, Hamptons, Hong Kong International Film Festival, and Cannes Lions Young Director Award, etc. Currently, Yuan Yuan is developing her first feature.

Yuan Yuan est une réalisatrice chinoise vivant à New York. Après son diplôme en réalisation au sein de la Shanghai Theatre Academy, elle a commencé à travailler sur le développement de scénarios pour le producteur Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger; Hidden Dragon; Lust, Caution). En 2017, Yuan commence un master afin de poursuivre son rêve : devenir réalisatrice. Elle est actuellement étudiante à la prestigieuse université NYU (Etats-Unis), grâce aux programmes « Ang Lee Scholar » et « Spike Lee Film Production ».

Les courts métrages de Yuan ont été sélectionnés dans de nombreux festivals internationaux, et gagné des prix au DGA Student Film Award, au festival Aspen ShortsFest, ainsi qu’au sein des festivals de Palm Springs, de Rhode Island, des Hamptons, du Hong Kong International Film Festival, et des Cannes Lions Young Director Award. Yuan développe à présent son premier long métrage.
