Vasilis Kekatos

Vasilis Kekatos (1991) est un scénariste et réalisateur basé à Athènes. Après avoir été diplômé de L’École des Arts de Brunel à Londres, il remporte le Short Film Challenge avec son court métrage Zero Star Hotel, en 2016. Il participe en 2017, avec le scénario de son court métrage Le silence des poissons mourants, au programme Euro Connection de Clermont-Ferrand et ESP de l’institut Nisi Masa. Le film fait sa première première mondiale au Festival de Locarno en 2018, puis s’en suit Sundance et d’autres sélections prestigieuses internationales – Palm Springs, Zinebi, Villeurbanne où il remporte le Prix du Meilleur Film. Sa dernière réalisation La distance entre le ciel et nous fera sa première mondiale à Cannes, dans le cadre de la compétition Court Métrage.

 

Vasilis Kekatos (1991) is a Greek writer/director based in Athens. After graduating from Brunel University’s School of Arts in London, he won Sundance Ignite Short Film Challenge 2016 with his short Zero Star Hotel. In 2017, he participated in Euro Connection in Clermont-Ferrand, as well as in Nisi Masa ESP, with the script of his short The Silence of the Dying Fish. The film had its world premiere in Locarno Film Festival (2018) and its US premiere in Sundance Film Festival (2019), while it has also been selected in many festivals around the world, like Palm Springs, ZINEBI and Villeurbanne, where it won Best Film. His latest short The Distance Between Us and the Sky will have its world premiere in Cannes Film Festival, as part of the Short Films Competition. Vasilis is currently working on the script for his debut feature.
